The Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation funded a series of free educational masterclasses, open to all, and catering to a range of jazz related instruments in the Yorkshire area.

The focus was on bringing well known artists to the centre to inspire, teach, share, and encourage young musicians. The workshops (trumpet, trombone, vocals, drums and percussions) engaged exactly 50 learners that came from across the Yorkshire region and were organised by Doncaster Youth Jazz Association.

The four “endangered species” instruments masterclass sessions ran as follows:

Quentin Collins – Trumpet on January 29th 2017
Dennis Rollins – Trombone on March 5th 2017
Lee Gibson – Vocals on April 30th 2017
Tristan Banks – Drums & Percussions on May 28th 2017

Location: Yorkshire

Date: January – May 2017

Age Group: 8 to 20

“Feedback was excellent from all 4 workshop sessions with participants getting in touch to say how encouraged and inspired by the sessions they were”
